Minster-on-sea

Located just a short 20 minute drive from The Forge is Minster Leas; a dog friendly beach (seasonal restrictions apply) where you can take a stroll along the promenade, enjoy the multi-coloured beach huts,  take a hike along the cliffs or hunt for fossils.   A favourite with dog walkers and families, there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy.

The grassy banks provide the perfect place for a picnic whilst looking out to sea or treat yourself to an ice cream from the beach shop or a bite to eat in the café.

Faversham

The picturesque, historic market town of Faversham, the oldest in Kent and recorded in the Domesday Book, has an array of independent shops, listed buildings and historic places to visit.  Located on a winding creek just 6 miles away, it’s one not to be missed.  Be sure to visit the weekly farmers market and seek out antiques at Standard Quay.

Home to Britain’s oldest brewer, Shepherd Neame which has a visitors centre and offers guided tours which include an exciting tasting session.

Oare Gunpowder Works Country Park

Lying just outside Faversham town centre, Oare Gunpowder Works Country Park is a hidden gem waiting for you to discover. 

An important site for the gunpowder industry, it’s one of the best places to discover the history of gunpowder manufacturing in a tranquil woodland setting.  It has woodlands, wetlands and open glades and is a wonderful place to discover wildlife.

Whistable

The fishing and harbour town of Whitstable in Kent has a rich maritime history and a strong arts culture.  Famous for its oysters which are celebrated every July at the Oyster Festival, it has a working harbour, shingle beach, independent shops and galleries and plenty of places to sample those oysters or good old fashioned fish and chips.

Canterbury

Made famous by Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, the University City boasts some of England’s finest medieval architecture including a spectacular cathedral which houses the famous shrine of Thomas Beckett. 

Its’ quaint cobbled streets, theatre and vast range of pubs and cafes will keep you entertained all day and night.

Isle of Sheppey

Discover the Isle of Sheppey, a seaside town with award winning beaches, the Port of Sheerness, historic town of Queenborough, Swale National Nature Reserve, Elmley Marshes Nature Reserve and holiday resort of Leysdown, it has something for everyone.

Bartons Point Coastal Park has 40 acres of outstanding natural beauty and a salt water lake, so it’s perfect for bird watching, fishing, picnics and dog walking.

Minster Windsurf Academy offers lessons for any level in windsurfing, paddleboarding & kayaking. 

Other places of interest include Eastchurch Aviation Museum, Muswell Manor, Blue Town Heritage Centre & Criterion Music Hall.
